1. Information We Collect
PLACIQ collects information you provide directly, information generated by your use of the platform, and limited technical data to ensure the service operates correctly.
Information you provide
- Account registration data: name, email address, and optionally phone number, college, and graduation year
- Profile information: skills, target role, experience level, and learning preferences
- Resume data submitted to our AI Resume Builder
- Messages sent to our AI tutor and interview simulator
- Payment information processed by our payment provider when paid plans are enabled — we do not store card details
Information generated by your use
- Problems attempted, solutions submitted, and time spent on each topic
- Mock interview recordings or transcripts, where enabled, used only to provide and improve the service
- AI tutor conversation history (used solely to personalize your learning)
- Learning streaks, progress metrics, and skill assessments
Technical information
- IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages visited, time on site, and referral URL (via Vercel Analytics)
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data to:
- Provide and improve the service — personalize your AI tutor, generate career recommendations, and improve our DSA curriculum
- Run the AI tutoring system (PCME) — your learning history powers the Cognitive Memory Engine that makes the tutor adapt to you
- Operate enterprise recruitment features — when you opt in, selected profile information may be shared with authorized recruiting teams
- Send product communications — platform updates, study reminders, and placement tips (you can opt out anytime)
- Process payments — subscription billing via Razorpay
- Comply with legal obligations — when required by Indian law
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.
3. Data Sharing
We share your data only in these circumstances:
- With your consent — when you opt into enterprise visibility, selected profile information may become visible to authorized recruiting teams
- Service providers — Supabase (database), Cloudflare R2 (file storage), payment providers, Vercel (hosting). All are bound by data processing agreements
- AI providers — selected prompts may be processed through our backend AI gateway. We aim to avoid sending personally identifiable information unless it is necessary to provide the feature
- Legal requirements — if required by court order or applicable law
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using secure infrastructure, including Supabase/PostgreSQL for application data and external object storage for larger files where required. We use row-level security, access controls, and encrypted connections where supported.
We implement server-side validation, database constraints, role-based access control, and regular security audits. No security system is perfect. If a security incident affects your data, we will take appropriate action and notify affected users as required by applicable law.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies for session management and authentication. We use analytics cookies (Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to use the platform.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction — update or correct inaccurate data in your profile settings
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data (some data may be retained for legal compliance for up to 3 years)
- Data portability — export your learning history and progress in JSON format
- Opt-out — opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link or account settings
- Enterprise visibility — remove yourself from the Enterprise Opt-in Candidate Pool at any time

7. Children's Privacy
PLACIQ is intended for users who are 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email and by displaying a notice on the platform for 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of PLACIQ after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
